ANY COUPLE CAN HAVE A CHILD WITH DWARFISM

Dwarfism can affect any baby born anytime,
about 1 in 10,000 births. Most children with dwarfism
are from average stature parents.
We refer to those affected as "Little People."

Most Little People encounter progressive deformities
during childhood. These deformities may lead to
disability. In some instances, breathing difficulties,
gradual paralysis and even death may result.

IS THERE TREATMENT? YES!

As a result of treatment, deformities can be corrected and
mobility returned. Affected individuals can become
capable of independent living.

WHERE DOES LPRF COME IN?

Dr. Steven Kopits (1936-2002) devoted his life to developing surgical treatments for the
progressive deformities of dwarfism.
For more than 20 years, LPRF’s mission has been to
support Dr. Kopits’ research by assisting him in collecting data and analyzing data and
in illustrating syndromes and the course of patients with and without treatment.

Through his pioneering and painstaking work, Dr. Kopits amassed an enormous reservoir
of data about little people and the numerous orthopaedic conditions that affect
their ability to lead full lives. LPRF's role has been to assist Dr. Kopits in bringing
the fruits of his labors to the public, and particularly to other professionals who, in turn,
will benefit from his experience and lend their own talents to treating little people.
With your help, LPRF will complete this mission.

By supporting the continuation of LPRF's research efforts, you can help to ensure that
Little People have an active, pain free, and productive life!
